What You Missed at LDI 2024: Gear Highlights and Event Recap

LDI 2024 came in hot this year, proving why it's the can't-miss event for live production pros. From innovative product launches to unforgettable parties, the show floor was packed with gear, ideas, and the people who made it all happen.

Here's what stood out in our whirlwind week:

The Art of Programming: Packed House, Big Impact

We kicked off the event with our seminar, The Art of Programming, and wow—what a turnout. If you've been following us, you already know this session digs into the creative and technical aspects of programming, empowering LDs and programmers to elevate their craft. This year's edition was our most successful yet, with an audience of pros eager to share insights and learn from each other. Also, check out LDI's recap! Huge thanks to everyone who showed up and plugged in!

Avolites: Diamond Consoles Sparkle on the Floor

Avolites showcased their sleek Diamond 7-330 and Diamond 7-215 consoles, adding new options to the Diamond family. These new models complement the Diamond 9 lineup, offering powerhouse control in compact packages. The booth buzzed as LDs got hands-on time to explore these cutting-edge desks.

Volux Lighting: Making a Bold Statement At LDI 2024

Volux Lighting went big—literally. Their massive booth was hard to miss, and the Flaris 1XK took center stage. This tilting strobe wash stands out with warm white LEDs integrated into its color mixing plates, delivering an actual blinder effect alongside 110,000+ lumens from its four strobe units. It's a game-changer for high-impact moments.

Master FX: Low Fog and High-Tech Distribution

Master FX impressed with their Genesis Low Fog machine, alongside the ever-popular Mystic 2 and Mystic Mini hazers. But the star of the show? Their custom fog distribution system allows centralized control of multiple machines with a single fluid jug. It's a genius solution for streamlined operation.

Claypaky: Innovation Across the Board

Claypaky's booth was booming with excitement, featuring three new fixtures:

  • Ultimo Hybrid: An IP65-rated hybrid fixture that handles beam, spot, and wash duties with ease.

  • Tambora Stormy & Rays: Fresh additions to the Tambora strobe family.

  • Volero Cube: This one's been making waves, but seeing it in person was a revelation—it's easily our favorite from Claypaky this year.

On Day 2, we joined forces with the Claypaky team for a special booth takeover. Stay tuned for our deep dive into their lineup! For now, check out their light show here ⬇️

X-Laser: Weatherproof Wonders

X-Laser's booth put their IP65-rated Triton T series lasers to the ultimate test, encasing them in a "fishbowl" of constant precipitation. Despite the downpour, the lasers delivered a flawless performance. Also, multiple face-melting laser and light shows across different consoles flexed how powerful you can leverage the Mercury firmware in X-Laser units. Even more interesting was that there was a 40W Triton on display, and X-Laser says Triton has the ability to scale up to 60W - with their Skywriter series able to glow up to 120W.

German Light Products: Big Lights, Big Party

GLP brought the heat with long-awaited updates to their fan favorites, including:

  • JDC1 Burst: An IP-rated evolution of the iconic strobe.

  • X5 Wash: The rugged, weatherproof sibling of the industry standard.

  • Mad Maxx: A jaw-dropping, 4-foot-tall fixture that stole the showfloor. at

Also, GLP's cowboy-themed party was held at the Atomic Saloon; this event was a standout of the weekend, blending unforgettable performances with industry camaraderie.

LDI 2024 wasn't just about the gear—it was about the connections, the creativity, and the constant push to redefine what's possible in live production. If you weren't there, you missed something special, but don't worry—we've got more deep dives and recaps coming your way. Until next year, plug in!
