We Tested The New Avolites Titan Remote

Avolites Titan Remote

The Avolites Titan Remote App is here to free you from the booth, giving you the power to control your entire show while roaming the venue like a boss. Whether you’re tweaking position palettes from the balcony, adjusting intensity backstage, or just flexing on the other programmers that don't have an app for their console, this app turns your phone or tablet into the ultimate mobile lighting weapon. If you’re still chained to the console, trust us—your workflow is about to get a serious upgrade.

Seamless Setup: How To Get Started

Getting started with the Avolites Titan Remote App couldn’t be easier. Once your console and phone or tablet are connected to the same network, the app automatically detects available consoles. You'll see your console listed on the screen—just tap to connect, and you're ready to go.

Ensure WiFi security is enabled to prevent accidental or intentional access from others. The last thing you want is someone in the audience taking control of your show!

Pro Tip: Avolites advises using a dedicated wireless access point rather than a wireless router (ADSL router). Although routers are cheaper, the WiFi connection through to the Ethernet can be flaky. Some routers can be switched to an "access point"mode to avoid this problem.

If you're setting up your own access point here are some pointers from the Avolites website:

  1. In the access point's admin screen, give the access point an IP address such as 10.0.0.1, make sure wireless is switched on and enable the DHCP server. Take note of the name of the wireless network (SSID).

  2. Connect an Ethernet cable from the back of the console to the access point.

  3. Set the IP address of the console: from the System menu (AVO + DISK), select Network Settings, press Local Area Connection, then press Set IP 10.*.*.*.

  4. On the mobile device, go to WiFi settings or Network Settings and ensure WiFi is set to on.

  5. Select the wireless network from the list, the name you took note of earlier. The mobile device should automatically get an IP address from the access point.

  6. Run the Titan Remote app. You should see the console listed.

Avolites Titan Remote Key Features

The app mirrors the familiar Titan interface, making it easy to navigate even while you're moving around the venue. The top of the screen provides commands like Locate, Highlight, Record, and the all-important Clear. The Fixture tab allows you to select the fixtures you want to control, while the Keypad toggle on the left opens up the full programming interface.

Additionally, individual attributes can be manipulated from the attribute bank, with wheels appearing once you select an attribute group.

Recording Palettes, Groups, and Cues

Another standout feature of the Titan Remote App is the ability to record groups and palettes directly from your mobile device. This includes the option to update existing palettes without having to return to the console. This means you can be walking the venue, making adjustments to position palettes, color, or focus, all while seeing those changes reflected live.

Independent Programming with Multiple Remotes

One of the most powerful features of the Titan Remote App is that it allows each remote to have a separate programmer. This means multiple programmers can work simultaneously—one can be at the console, while another adjusts palettes or updates scenes remotely. With no risk of conflicts between the two, this truly brings new levels of efficiency and flexibility to the design process.

Stay Up-To-Date with Future Titan Versions

Here’s another game-changer: the Titan Remote App isn’t a one-off. It's fully compatible with both version 16 and version 17, and as Avolites continues to release updates to Titan, the app will evolve as well.

Tablet-Friendly: Expand Your Workspace

For those looking to take full advantage of a larger screen, the Titan Remote App is tablet-friendly. In fact, many users opt to use it on a tablet as an expanded workspace. Whether you're accessing programming tools or fine-tuning your design, a tablet setup lets you spread out your controls and visuals for a smoother workflow. It’s perfect for larger venues where you want more precision when making adjustments

Whether you're walking the venue fine tuning position palettes, or just watching playback from different audience perspectives -- the titan remote app will give you the mobile solution we have been waiting for from Avolites. It combines convenience with the full power of Titan software, letting you manipulate fixtures, recall playbacks, and record scenes without being tethered to the console.
